Beth Richter, MD, PhD, is an engineer-trained retina surgeon originally from south Georgia. She earned dual undergraduate degrees in biology from Emory University and mechanical engineering (summa cum laude) from Georgia Institute of Technology, and her MD and PhD degrees from the Medical College of Georgia. There, her thesis was in a laboratory that focused on virology and it's effects on the retina.
Dr. Richter then a completed surgical internship and ophthalmology residency at Storm Eye Institute in Charleston, South Carolina and a vitreoretinal fellowship at Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA in Los Angeles, California. She is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
